The Vancouver International Writers Festival and Penguin Books Canada present a special event with award winner David Adams Richards, historian and author Charlotte Gray, and acclaimed novelist Lewis DeSoto on April 17. This event is part of the launch of Penguin Canadas new Extraordinary Canadians series.
Penguin commissioned the authors to write the first three biographies in a series of books on famous Canadians. David Adams Richards has written about Lord Beaverbrook, Charlotte Gray about Nellie McClung, and Lewis DeSoto on Emily Carr. Other authors contributing to the series include Adrienne Clarkson, Doug Coupland, Vincent Lam, Margaret MacMillan, Jane Urquhart and Rudy Wiebe.
The series, which is guest edited by John Ralston Saul, will be made into a television documentary to be aired this spring.
The event will be moderated by Hal Wake.
