The Houston Arboretum & Nature Center welcomes families to Get Outside for Earth Day, a free celebration on Sat., April 9 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Families are encouraged to hike along the Arboretum’s Outer Loop trail which will feature animal activity stations where visitors can learn about a variety of species native to the Houston area. Staff from REI’s Houston store will be on-site with a demonstration campsite and information on opportunities for outdoor family recreation. The hike will end at the Arboretum’s building where visitors can shop at a Native plant sale, featuring aquatic and bog plants. Refreshments, including Freebirds Burritos will also be available for purchase.
Arboretum memberships will be discounted for the day and those joining will receive discount coupons to local museums and attractions. Admission to the Earth Day Celebration is free.
