This seminar from Paul Chinoweth of the University's Centre of Legal Research provides an introduction to ongoing research into the future of expert witness practice in rights to light litigation.
It describes the nature and practical significance of the easement of daylight in city centre redevelopment projects. It explains the methodology used by expert witnesses in assessing both liability and the extent of the losses incurred by a potential claimant.
The methodology is shown to contain a number of anomalies which are being explored in the author's ongoing research. The author's published research in this field is described and future research plans are discussed.
