More than 500 new planets have been discovered around other stars by astronomers, but what does this mean for the average observer of the skies? Star systems like the one around Gliese 581 are exciting news but have little relevance to our daily lives. (Where is Gliese 581, anyway?) Together, we'll go through a list of 20 naked-eye stars that have planets, plus stars in familiar constellations that we can go outside and see without a telescope. After the presentation, we'll be able to point to several stars that have planets around them, and wonder about the possibility that someone may be looking back. Registration is required. Call 978-887-9264 for details. See http://www.massaudubon.org/catalog/listing.php?program_code=1279-IP11WI1 for more information.
