Garnet Jex (1895-1979) was an active member of the Washington, D.C. artists' community. He captured scenes of D.C., Harpers Ferry and the C & O Canal, works that serve as historical records. Jex visited Harpers Ferry with fellow artists from the Landscape Club of Washington for more than 40 years and many of the paintings in the exhibition are from these visits. The Museum would like to thank the town of Harpers Ferry, West Virginia, the Board of Trustees of the Garnet Jex Collection, Mrs. Anne Newcomer Dungan and Mr. & Mrs. Lee Stine for their assistance in making this exhibition possible.
