Las Cruces, NM –“Fiber Fest” and exhibit of fiber arts from the Mesilla Valley Weavers will open at Branigan Cultural Center on Friday, June 5, 2009 with an artist reception from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. The exhibit runs through Saturday, June 27, 2009.
The Mesilla Valley Weavers are utilizing the exhibit to emphasize that the group is interested in all fiber arts, not just weaving. The members are involved in spinning, knitting, weaving, and other techniques. The exhibit includes painted silks, basketry, rugs, clothing, accessories, linens, and wall hangings. Over twenty artists will display their work.
Mesilla Valley Weavers was formed to stimulate interest in the artistic and technical development of the fiber arts. Membership is open to weavers, textile artists and others interested in the fiber arts. For more information on the group contact Jan Harrison (jancharrison@q.com).
The Branigan Cultural Center, 501 N. Main Street, is located at the north end of the Downtown Mall in Las Cruces. The exhibit and reception is free and open to the public.
