Las Cruces, NM –The exhibit “Colors and Textures of Southern New Mexico” will be held over for an additional month at Branigan Cultural Center. The exhibit opened March 6th and was scheduled to close at the end of the month. The exhibit will now remain on display through Saturday, April 25, 2009. “The exhibit has been very well received, and we are please to be able to extend the exhibit another month,” stated Cultural Center Manager, Garland Courts.
“Colors and Textures of Southern New Mexico” features the works of three Las Cruces artists -- Judy Licht, Lynn Unangst and Laurel Weathersbee. The artists have included a variety of two-and-three dimensional works, interpreting their visions of this area's flora, culture and landscape.
In addition, a gallery talk has been set for Saturday, April 11th at 11:00 a.m. Laurel Weathersbee will discuss the theme and her technique of torn paper watercolor collage. The program is free and will take place in the exhibit. Anyone with visitors in town for Easter weekend is especially encouraged to attend.
The Branigan Cultural Center, 501 N. Main Street, is located at the north end of the Downtown Mall in Las Cruces. The exhibit and gallery talk is free and open to the public. Galleries are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information about exhibits and programs, contact the Branigan Cultural Center at (575) 541-2154 or visit the Center’s web site at www.las-cruces.org/museums
