Excuse for a Swordfight August 21, 2008

Excuse for a Swordfight is the hysterical new comedy by A.F. Cronin playing at the Miles Memorial Playhouse in Santa Monica, CA. It is the story of four aspiring artists, a handsome actor, a beautiful actress, an intellectual writer, and a savvy film director who prepare to pitch a film script to the “Man with the money”, the enigmatical Morris. Worried that the story of a brilliant, woman scientist who gives up her career to find a cure for Cancer, doesn’t have enough “action”, they decide they must find an excuse to fit a swordfight into the script. They twist and turn an intellectual and thought provoking script, into a senseless action film meant thrill audiences, make money, and fast track each of them to stardom.
