Join us for an evening with acclaimed dancer Jock Soto who will read from his intimate memoir Every Step You Take. Jock Soto was just 16 when George Balanchine selected him to join the New York City Ballet company where he eventually became the most choreographed dancer in the company's history.
A principal dancer, his 24-year career included featured roles in over 40 ballets that were created for him by Peter Martins, Jerome Robbins, Christopher Wheeldon and Lynne Taylor-Corbett. The New York Times raved: "Ballet is a man named Jock".
After an acclaimed 24-year performing career at one of the most prestigious ballet companies in the world, he retired from dancing in 2005. He was the subject of a critically acclaimed PBS documentary, Water Flowing Together, and his memoir Every Step You Take was published in 2011 by HarperCollins. Currently, he is also an Honorary Board Member at Red Sky Performance.
He will read from his memoir, Every Step You Take, and will then join Red Sky's Artistic Director Sandra Laronde, in an up close and personal conversation.
Intimate and moving, Every Step You Take shows the honest and inspiring evolution of a remarkable man, a brilliant artist, and a living legend.
A book signing with Jock Soto will follow the event.
