The Zimmerli Art Museum presents a small teaching collection of European paintings from the fifteenth to the nineteenth centuries, illustrating various art historical trends from the Renaissance and Baroque eras through the nineteenth century. Nineteenth-century European paintings are shown in relation to the Zimmerli's large graphic arts collection of that period. European modernism is primarily represented through the graphic arts, and is displayed within the twentieth-century galleries.
