Eunice Kennedy Shriver Challenge October 23, 2010

Best Buddies International and Special Olympics are joining forces to commemorate the legacy of Eunice Kennedy Shriver with the inaugural Eunice Kennedy Shriver Challenge. The event will feature a 20-mile cycling event led by Mayor Fenty, along with renowned Tour de France cyclists Bobby Julich and Christian Vande, starting at the Washington Monument, proceeding up Constitution Avenue, past the Capitol and through the city. The day's activities will also include tandem events, a Corporate Relay, and the Carl Lewis Challenge, a 5K run and 3K walk, led by the Olympic gold-medalist himself. There will also be a Youth Fun Run designed to engage and motivate young people in both movements. The day will conclude with a private luncheon for all participants.
