The EU-Malaysia Biomass Sustainable Production Initiative (Biomass-SP), a development cooperation project funded by the European Union (EU) under the SWITCH-Asia Programme, will be hosting the EU-Asia Biomass Best Practices & Business Partnering Conference 2012 on 7 – 10 May 2012 at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
This initiative comprises of International Conference, Business Match-Making Event, Business Partnering Seminar, and Exhibition. The event aims to improve the competitiveness of biomass companies in both the EU and Asia regions via trade and investment, joint venture, environmental technology transfer and cooperation, sharing of best practices and know-how within the key priority sectors of biomass industry especially those involved in bioenergy, biofertilisers, high value bio-chemicals, eco-products and green building materials.
The International Conference comprises of 20 panel sessions, up to 70 subjects and invited speakers from Malaysia, Asia and Europe.
The Business Match-Making Event aims to establish business and technology partnership by arranging one-to-one business meetings between participating biomass companies from the EU and Asia regions to formalise long-term business partnership such as collaboration in public procurement, venture capital investment, R&D joint venture, management contract, technical assistance, technology licensing, biomass trading, manufacturing investment and contract manufacturing within the key priority areas of the Conference.
A complimentary softcopy of the Business Collaboration Profiles Catalogue is available on request and will be sent to you upon registration of Business Match-making Event for your review and Business Meeting arrangements. The first edition contains 60 profiles of Malaysian biomass companies and it is being updated progressively with new registration.
We are also inviting interested participating organisation to present their profile of collaboration at the Business Partnering Seminar whilst the Exhibition will be excellent platform for participating companies to showcase biomass products, research and technology developments, and services and to explore collaboration potentials with local, regional and EU delegates as well as trade visitors.
In addition, to encourage uptake of business and technological collaboration at the Conference, a total of Travel Incentive of EUR 800 will be
granted to “50 most qualified European companies (based in Europe)” which have genuine business collaboration profile that is relevant to the
Malaysian biomass companies and possess a high prospect for successful collaboration with Malaysian biomass companies.
To date, more than 200 participants have confirmed their participation at the Event which expects to receive 400-500 delegates representing palm oil mills, saw mills & rice mills, biomass collector & traders, commercialisation entrepreneurs, renewable energy (RE) technology providers, environmental services providers, producers of biofuels, biofertilisers, biocomposites, biochemicals, eco-products & green building materials, financial & development financial institutions, biogas technology providers, biomass power plant developers, biochemical technology providers, CDM brokerage companies, CDM project developers and investors, carbon fund managers, venture capitalists, trade promotion agencies, Chambers of Commerce, policy-makers, logistics companies, research institutions and universities, as well as local authorities.
