Eric Scott - Charles Darwin: 200 Years on February 8, 2009

Celebrate the 200-year anniversary of the birth of Charles Darwin and the 150-year anniversary of Darwin's earth shaking book, 'On the Origin of Species,' with a presentation by Curator of Paleontology Eric Scott. Darwin was born on February 12, 1809, the very same day as Abraham Lincoln. The theory of evolution, first advanced by Darwin in his book in 1859, remains one of the most far-reaching and powerful scientific theories ever proposed. Scott's presentation will discuss the scientific theory of evolution, how it works, and some of the more common assumptions-both accurate and inaccurate-often made about evolution.
