An emphatically soulful player who has listened closely to tenor giants George Coleman and Dexter Gordon, Alexander consistently has found himself sharing bandstands and recording studios with veteran players twice his age, from the pioneering bebop baritone saxophonist Cecil Payne and Hammond B3 great Charles Earland to the prodigious pianist Harold Mabern and guitar legend Pat Martino.
