The EPCC Law Enforcement Training Academy will be holding a Texas Peace
Officer Training Course . The course runs Monday through Fridays from 6-10pm beginning September 14th. The course runs nine months and registration ends Friday, September 11th. The Law Enforcement Academy is located on the EPPC Mission del Paso, 10700 Gateway East.
Students must apply directly to the EPCC Law Enforcement Training Academy for admission to the program. Once cleared, they may register for Phase I of the course. The Basic Peace Officer Course is a prescribed training program required of all Texas Peace Officers and is regulated by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education.
Upon completion of the program and successful completion of the state licensing exam, students may apply with any law enforcement agency in the State of Texas. The El Paso Police Department has a lateral transfer program for trained applicant who have passed the state exam. New hires will then attend a six week orientation / training program as an El Paso Police Officer. All local police departments recruit from the EPCC Law Enforcement Academy (with the exception of the El Paso County Sheriffs Department). This includes local school districts and colleges, who employ peace officers.
