El Paso Community College will honor acclaimed El Paso writer Benjamín Alire Saénz during a literary gathering that will be open to the public.
The two-day “EPCC Literary Fiesta: A Celebration of Books, Writers and Readers” will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m., Friday, September 11 and from 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, September 12. Both events will be held at the college’s Administrative Services Center, 9050 Viscount.
The evening gathering will honor the renowned author and UTEP professor for his literary legacy with a reading, music and food.
On Saturday, El Paso area writers Sasha Pimentel Chaco, Ysella Slavin, Daniel Chacón,
Lawrence Welsh, Lee Byrd, Ruth Peña, L.C. Hayden, Robert McGregor, Ray Ramos, Mary Mooney and Carmen Gimenez-Smith will read from their works as part of the celebration. The event will also include panel discussions, book sellers, music, food and art.
