Entertain the troops with DVD and game drive at Blockbuster stores July 1, 2008

Blockbuster Inc. is bringing entertainment to American troops by hosting a nationwide DVD and game drive in stores July 2 through July 14, 2008.

Massachusetts residents can donate DVDs and games at all participating BLOCKBUSTER® stores, and Blockbuster will match donations made in-store with a donation of up to 20,000 DVDs. Blockbuster is working with the USO to distribute entertainment to troops across the globe.

Movies and games provide the troops a break from intense daily realities and a way to fill down time when away from loved ones. The DVD and game drive is a way for Blockbuster and the American public to make life a little better for U.S. service men and women when they’re so far away from home.

To participate, customers can purchase new or previously viewed DVDs and games at participating BLOCKBUSTER stores, then drop them in convenient USO drop boxes on site. For security reasons, the USO can only accept DVDs and games originating from participating BLOCKBUSTER stores.

Blockbuster is also committed to raising $100,000 for the USO during the drive. To accomplish that goal, customers are invited to purchase an American flag antenna ball/pencil topper for a minimum $1 donation at participating BLOCKBUSTER stores. Blockbuster will donate 100% of the money collected from the sale of the antenna balls to the USO to help entertain and support the morale of the troops.
