The Oregon Sports Authority, Portland Timbers, Alpha Broadcasting and TAOW Modern Marketing are teaming up to present two free public viewing parties that will offer thousands of area soccer fans the chance to share in the excitement of the upcoming 2010 World Cup as part of “Soccer City Celebration presented by McDonald’s.”
The main events will include a viewing party at Director Park in downtown Portland on Saturday, June 12, at 11 a.m. as the United States takes on England in the much-anticipated group-play opener for both sides. The second event will feature the World Cup final at Pioneer Courthouse Square on Sunday, July 11, at 11 a.m.
To add to the excitement, the Timbers will unveil the team’s new crest at halftime of the United States-England match on Saturday, June 12. New-logo apparel will be available for purchase at Director Park immediately after the unveiling of the team’s new crest.
