England will be looking to extend their three-match winning home run in November’s Investec Challenge Series.
England tamed the Pumas 37 – 15 at Old Trafford in June but a week later on home soil Argentina turned the tables with a 24 – 22 victory. Now in a forerunner of England’s first match of the 2011 Rugby World Cup there is everything to play for at Twickenham on November 14 (kick off 2.30pm).
After playing Australia the week before, Martin Johnson’s squad will face the challenge of an Argentina side that finished third in the 2007 Rugby World Cup and who have recently been invited to join the Tri-Nations in 2012.
The Test represents a rare opportunity for families and friends to sample the unique Twickenham atmosphere, and with the likes of British and Irish Lions duo Ugo Monye, Tom Croft and 2003 Rugby World Cup winner Jonny Wilkinson in contention for the starting fifteen, there will be no shortage of action to excite the fans.
England Team Manager, Martin Johnson said: “The Pumas are an extremely gifted side and they are ahead of England in the world rankings on merit. Argentina proved again in the summer what an excellent side they are. Like all of the England squad and the fans – who I am sure will create a really good atmosphere – I am looking forward to the game on November 14.”
England has played their Argentine counterparts 14 times since their first meeting in May 1981, winning 9 times, losing four and drawing once.
*Tickets for the Investec Challenge Series match between England and Argentina are available priced at £45 and £65 for adults and £10 for under 16s via www.rfu.com/tickets.
