Engineers - come to a free workshop and learn essential communication skills, through telling your own engineering story. Learn about structuring a message, picture editing and making films, maybe even how to present yourself. Past participants have ranged from students to professors.

The idea behind the workshop is telling your own personal engineering story, through making a film matching your photos and pictures to a script composed and recorded in the workshop.

The films will be used to inspire the engineers of tomorrow, by showing them at science festivals, putting them on websites and sending them out to schools.

This event is sponsored by the Royal Academy of Engineering, and run by a former executive producer at the BBC.

To see films already made, go to www.acoustics.salford.ac.uk/digistories. For a recorded presentation describing this workshop, and other details, go to www.cse.salford.ac.uk/engenious.

This is the first part of three consecutive instalments of this workshop. The next two are on 29 and 30 September - same time, same place.
