Catherine Joslyn and Nilda CallaƱaupa Alvarez, curators. Textiles have been a primary medium of expression in Andean culture for millennia, but today are in danger of disappearing. A native of the Peruvian highlands, curator Nilda CallaƱupa established the Center for Traditional Textiles in Cuzco to preserve and promote these traditions. This Year of Peru exhibit celebrates the work of the nine weaving communities that make up the Center.
