The DoD Under Secretary for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics andthe Office of Force Transformation are pleased to invite you to attend the eleventh such conversation about our national addiction to energy. This dialog explores the central role energy plays in achieving both national and program goals.
SPEAKER INFORMATION
Mr. Justin Mundy is a Special Advisor on Climate Change to the Foreign Secretary at the British Government's Foreign and Commonwealth Office and a Senior Adviser to the British Government's Department for International Development where he specializes on Russia, climate, and
energy issues. Mr. Mundy is also a member of the UK Government's
Sustainable Energy Policy Advisory Board.
During the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change sixth
and seventh Conference of Parties, Mr. Mundy was appointed adviser to
the European Commission on EU - Russia co-ordination. Previous to
joining Deutsche Bank where he worked on carbon trading, he worked at
the World Bank where he ran the Bank's forestry and biodiversity
programs in Russia and Central Asia. He was the Environment Adviser for
the region's oil and gas sector and sat on the Senior Governmental
Advisers Committee for the Ministerial Environment for Europe Process.
Before joining the World Bank, he worked extensively on environmental,
forestry programs and conflict resolution programs in Asia, South
America, Africa and Eastern Europe.
General Charles "Chuck" F. Wald is the former Deputy Commander of United
States European Command
. His
duties have included Chief of the U.S. Air Force Combat Terrorism
Center, support group commander, operations group commander, and special
assistant to the Chief of Staff for National Defense Review. He was also
the Director of Strategic Planning and Policy at Headquarters U.S. Air
Force, and served on the Joint Staff as the Vice Director for Strategic
Plans and Policy.
Why is the DoD hosting this series? Just as the Defense Department
played a critical role in forging the information revolution in past
decades, so can the Department play a similar critical role in fueling
the energy revolution in coming decades.
Why are you invited? Because there are positive and negative outcomes of
decisions you make dependent upon your understanding of energy. We are
all stakeholders in addressing the efficiency, conservation, secure
sourcing, and cost reduction of energy. It is complicated with no easy
answers. There are NO SILVER BULLETS. Come learn with us.
