Encounter: Maurice Ravel Sonatas October 23, 2008

CONTEXT, a Houston-based classical chamber-music ensemble, will present a free ‘Encounter’ on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at 7:00 pm. This intimate, hour-long event will be held at the Joan Wich and Company Gallery and feature music from CONTEXT’s upcoming concert, Maurice Ravel: Sonatas.

The Encounter will include excerpts from the upcoming concert, along with entertaining in-depth discussion of the composer, the music and the instruments played in a casual atmosphere.

The internationally-known musicians scheduled to appear are Sergiu Luca – violin, Brian Connelly – piano, Timothy Jones – bass-baritone. The musicians will showcase the remarkable works of Ravel and reveal his avant-garde style with a mixture of American jazz and blues.
