Once of Austins most cherished outdoor venues is tucked away in an unsuspecting nook of SoLa, far from the tourists and drink specials that dominate the downtown club scene. Many have passed by the ivy gates of twisted metal, completely oblivious to the energy that lingers from thousands of memories formed during special events held at the Enchanted Forest. For those of you that are reading this, some of those memories may be yours.
The Enchanted Forest has opened its gates to celebrate the hypnotic fire storm of Sangre del Sol; the sub frequency womp of Bassnectar; life-sized mouse traps; San Frans glitch mob; the circus-styled extravagance that is The Mutaytor; Rockit parties with DJ Manny, Brownout, and B-Boy City; and yearly exhibitions of Austins premier visual artists at the Art Outside festival. While the majority of Austins entertainment venues have divided us into buckets labeled with every sub-genre and niche that music has to offer, the Enchanted Forest is one of the only places where not only is everyone welcome, but where each spark of individuality contributes to some of Austins most enchanted parties.
On Saturday, April 5th, 2008, the Enchanted Forest opens its gates for one of the largest dance parties of the year. Pull out your old prom dress, dress your locks, pop a double collar pull-over, or pick up the tux or little black dress from your cleaners it doesnt matter. Just be there!
Sage from Sangre del Sol will be bringing the fire. Be sure to bring your own beer/everything. There will be a $10 cover that goes toward efforts to keep the Enchanted Forest beautiful. The Enchanted Forest is located on the corner of Oltorf and S. Lamar.
