West Texas Food Bank and the El Paso Community College Student Art Society will hold its sixth annual “Empty Bowls El Paso” banquet from Noon- 4:00 p.m., Saturday, February 26 in the Building A Auditorium at the college’s Administrative Services Center, 9050 Viscount.
For the past six years, the EPCC Art Society and the West Texas Food Bank have organized Empty Bowls El Paso as a public service project to raise funds for the hungry in El Paso. Individuals attending this charity event select and keep one of the beautifully-crafted, folk-art bowls made by EPCC art students and community leaders from El Paso. They then enjoy a bowl of an assortment of soups and breads created by the EPCC Culinary Arts program. Collected funds are for the West Texas Food Bank to help eliminate hunger in El Paso County.
A silent auction and live music will also be part of the day’s festivities. The entrance price is a $10 donation to the West Texas Food Bank. For more information, please call Celeste Hardts of the West Texas Food Bank at (915) 595-1060.
