emPower Happy Hour December 2, 2010

Start your month off right by networking for a good cause!

On the first Thursday of every month, emPower magazine is hosting an emPower HAPPY HOUR at Tabaq Bistro to further our mission, which is to not only discuss social issues, but also challenge our readers to take action.

Each month, you have the opportunity to support a different non-profit organization in the Washington DC Metropolitan Area. Attendees can give in two ways:
• By drinking (10 percent of the beverage proceeds will go to the non-profit)
• By bringing non-monetary donations (depending on the needs of the organization)

December Non-Profit Recipient: Restart Education Foundation

Mission: RESTART Educational Foundation is a student-centered non-profit organization focused on true Generational Change that will break the cycle for low-income, urban youth. It is our mission to have all of our students matriculate into an institution of higher education. We are dedicated to developing the minds and spirits of our students so they will be productive members of their communities.

Non-monetary request:

Christmas toys for children in the pre-kindergarten to high school age group. Restart Education is looking to donate toys to 250 kids this Christmas season.
