Empire City Men's Chorus - Song is a Strong Thing May 21, 2011

In recognition of the 100th anniversary of International Women's day and in conjunction with UNITE: The United Nations International Campaign to End Violence Against Women, the Empire City Men's Chorus presents the work of women composers. Singing the compositions of Gwyneth Walker, Dorothy Hindman, Eleanor Daley, Christina Whitten Thomas, and others, we will present poignant works that highlight the contribution of women who are currently shaping the musical landscape. Our concert will also reflect the struggle for freedom in this landmark year for women. In the words of Langston Hughes, (whose eloquent Harlem Songs form a portion of our program): "...song is a strong thing."
