Writer/director/producer Todd Robinson will speak at the Alameda Writer's Group (AWG) meeting on Saturday, October 7th, 2006. Doors open at 9:45 a.m. and the meeting begins at 10 a.m. at the Glendale Central Library, 222 East Harvard St. Glendale, 91205. Telephone (818) 548-2030.

A founding member of The Jonathan Larson Performing Arts Foundation, Todd Robinson recently completed the film, "Lonely Hearts," starring John Travolta, James Gandolfini, Salma Hayak, Jared Leto, and Laura Dern. He is also finishing work on the film, "The Senator's Wife," which stars Jennifer Aniston. Other film credits include "White Squall," "The Four Diamonds," "Mermaid," "Bad Boys II," and Prime Time Emmy Award winning "The Legend of Billy the Kid." For television, Robinson created and executive produced "Astronauts" for ABC, adapted Nicholas Sparks best selling novel, "The Rescue" for CBS, wrote and executive produced "The Third House" with Sidney Pollack, and enjoys a variety of network series credits. Robinson also wrote and directed "Wild Bill: Hollywood Maverick," winning Best Documentary Film by the National Board of Review, as well as Academy Award finalist "Amargosa," which won a 2003 Emmy Award for best cinematography. The title of his talk will be "Making Movies - Script to Screen."
At this meeting, the AWG will accept donations of new and used DVDs and CDs which will be shipped to the veterans organization Operation DVD for distribution to troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The AWG presents lectures by novelists, screenwriters, agents, producers, and other industry professionals at free monthly meetings. In addition, AWG members may attend special interest groups that offer support and feedback for works-in-progress.
