John Martin teaches national affairs reporting at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism. In a 45-year career in journalism, he worked as a national correspondent for ABC News, reporting for World News Tonight, Nightline, 20/20, Day One, and This Week with David Brinkley, and edited for The New York Times International Edition in Paris. Listeners to 770 KKOB-AM may also recognize Martin from his broadcasts with ABC Radio News.

Among his network television assignments, Martin searched for Nazi war criminals in South America; uncovered an atrocity hoax perpetrated by the Kuwaiti Government during the Gulf War; reported on the tobacco industry manipulation of nicotine, for which he shared a duPont-Columbia Gold Baton and the George Polk Award; examined public subsidies for Ross Perot's private projects, for which he shared an Emmy Award; and described the role of 18,000 black sailors serving in the Civil War Union Navy, for which he received the National Association of Black Journalists Award for Excellence.

Martin currently covers international professional tennis as a correspondent and photographer for ABCNews.com. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from San Diego State University and was a 1987 recipient of the university’s Monty award for distinguished alumni.
