Prometheus Dance created their second company The Elders Ensemble four years ago. The Elders perform with the main company throughout the year in various special choreographic projects. But it is their annual spring concert that is eagerly anticipated by their ever-growing fan base.
For their 3rd annual spring performance, the Elders will be premiering their Sacred, along with three other pieces in their repertory: There's a Dance in the Ol' Dame Yet! (2005), Shadow Prophecy (2006), and All Dressed Up To Go Dreaming (2007). All the dances have been choreographed by the co-Artistic Directors of Prometheus Dance, Diane Arvanites-Noya and Tommy Neblett, in collaboration with the Elders.
This springs ensemble will feature the work of Karen Klein, Betty Milhendler, Eleanor Duckworth, Joan Green, Susan Lane, Vicky Steinitz, Marcie Mitler, Eliza Mallouk, Anne Tolbert and Dorothy Elizabeth Tucker. All these Elders are post-professional dancers ranging in age from 55-85. In April 2006, The Elders Ensemble received a Gold Star Award from the Massachusetts Cultural Council for their outstanding and inventive arts programming throughout the Boston-area, performing in many community events, as well as in senior centers and healthcare facilities. They are praised for their grace and depth of artistry that often only someone with age and experience can express.
