Come join hundreds of New Yorkers in Times Square (at 45th and 7th) on Tuesday, October 25, at noon calling for the release of Mikhail Khodorkovsky on the eighth anniversary of his unlawful arrest. Khodorkovsky was once one of Russia’s most successful businessmen, championing social responsibility and integrating Russia into the global economy by encouraging foreign investment.
Eight years ago Khodorkovsky was arrested by the Russian government on ridiculous and contradictory charges. His true “crime,” though, was being an enemy of Vladimir Putin and a supporter of democracy and modernization. Now that Putin is returning to the presidency, it is more important than ever that we show our support for Khodorkovsky. This demonstration not only shows support for a man illegally behind bars but also protests the corruption of the Russian regime and supports the move towards a true democracy.
By participating you are displaying your support for Khodorkovsky, for the hundreds of innocent people who have been arrested on similar grounds and for the commitment to the rule of law in Russia. Please join us.
