Founder/Artistic Director Helanius J. Wilkins announces EDGEWORKS Dance Theater’s (EDT) annual performance at American Dance Institute (ADI) located at 1570 East Jefferson Street in Rockville MD on Saturday, November 4, at 7:30 p.m. Building on the momentum of EDT’s 6th season opening performances to two packed audiences at the John F. Kennedy Center, and winning two awards at the recent Metro DC Dance Awards, Wilkins and Company will present a high caliber program of signature and new works, featuring excerpts from Cold Case, the critically-acclaimed, award-winning premiere component of the Company’s Negro Dance Theatre Project. “Race, generation, religion and AIDS form the complex that is Wilkins’s world,” says noted dance critic George Jackson in the Dance View Times about Cold Case.
Tickets are $20 general admission and $15 seniors/children under 12. On sale now, please call 301.984.3003 or visit www.americandance.org for tickets.
Among the signature dances to be featured on the program are the critically-acclaimed trio Melting the Edges, and Yes, a dynamic duet demonstrating “sheer physicality” that premiered in 2000 and marked the debut of EDGEWORKS Dance Theater.

EDT aims to break down stereotypes through dance, utilizing a spectrum of performance, choreographic and teaching styles, reflecting the diversity of experiences and perspectives of both its members and guest artists. Through its mission, EDT provides a variety of arts education services and programming to the public. Encompassing physical extremes, EDT’s body of performance work is both dynamic and diverse.
