eDemocracyCamp is an unconference about e-democracy (how we can use the internet to support democratic processes) with a special focus on e-participation (how we can use the internet to support public participation).
People liked last year's event, so we're doing it again in 2009!

Please note the date for this event has changed:
eDemocracyCamp2 is now scheduled for Sunday, April 19, 2009.
Background: Politics Online Conference '09 had to be moved out a couple of weeks to April 20-21, and we decided to move along with them.
We are thrilled to announce that we've found a really nice venue for eDemocracyCamp2:
George Washington University
The Institute for Politics, Democracy & the Internet (IPDI) and The Graduate School of Political Management (GSPM)
Media and Public Affairs Building
805 21st Street, NW
Washington, DC 20052 (USA)
For anyone not familiar with DC, this is very centrally located and comes with good access to public transportation (Foggy Bottom metro station, Blue and Orange line).
Thanks to our in-kind sponsors IPDI and GSPM for hosting us!
Hi,
We're using Eventbrite this year to help us maintain one consolidated list of registered attendees, and we need your cooperation!
Last year, we had a no-show rate of about 35 percent, which is too high if we want to avoid waste and spend our sponsor money wisely and efficiently. Please sign up on Eventbrite only if you are committed to attending the event. If you sign up and later find out you won't make it, please take your name off the list.
There is no upper limit of attendees at this point, and we're pretty sure we'll be able to accommodate last-minute sign-ups. But for planning purposes, please help us keep this list as accurate as possible. Thank you!

Just a quick heads-up:
We'll make a serious effort this year to record many if not all of the sessions (audio, video, or even live video streaming). At the very least, we need to make sure that the essentials will be documented (e.g. on the wiki, on everybody's blogs, via Twitter etc.).
There are many folks around the world interested in these topics who can't all attend in person but would love to get a glimpse of the action, give feedback, connect with attendees etc.
If you have audio/video experience, please bring your equipment and be prepared to record your own sessions as well as those of others. If you don't know how to record, please indicate on the wiki where you need help and maybe somebody else can be your coach or do it for you.
If we get this piece right, it would greatly increase the value of eDemocracyCamp (far beyond the day of the event).
Thank you all!
Tim
We currently have 150 people signed up. One week to go! Don't forget to RSVP on Eventbrite if you plan to attend: http://edemocracy.eventbrite.com/
Hey, a big thank you to the five people who had signed up on Eventbrite (http://edemocracy.eventbrite.com) and let us know they had to cancel. Keeps our head count current. Much appreciated!
In other news: 20+ additional sign-ups over the past 48 hours alone. ;-)

Last year was awesome because of the participants. People signing up should be ready for lots of participation, engagement, and discussion. Don't show up expecting to hide behind a laptop screen all day.
