The Alex Film Society presents a rare 35mm screening of Ed Wood’s magnum opus, Plan 9 From Outer Space..

On-stage chat with Gregory Walcott and a panel discussion on Ed Wood that will include a salute to the horror film icon, Bela Lugosi. Plus, sci fi movie memorabilia exhibit and Plan 9 & sci fi raffle baskets.

With a budget of a whopping $60,000, Plan 9 from Outer Space (originally titled Grave Robbers from Outer Space) a science fiction/horror film was written and directed by Edward D. Wood, Jr. Dubbed a sci fi horror film, Plan 9 features Gregory Walcott, Mona McKinnon, Tor Johnson and Maila "Vampira" Nurmi. The film bills Bela Lugosi posthumously as a star, although silent footage of the actor had been shot by Wood for other, unfinished projects just before Lugosi's death in 1956.

The on-stage program concludes with a classic animated cartoon, JUMPIN’ JUPITER (1955) in 35mm featuring Porky and Sylvester who set-up camp in the dessert w here a flying saucer lands inhabited by a goofy-looking alien from Jupiter named Buzzard.
