Using the Situationists' concept of psychogeography as their launching point, Instant City explores the tectonic and cultural shifts of both historical and contemporary San Francisco. By exploring the relationship of landscape and emotion through oral histories of the Tenderloin, personal accounts of nights out in SoMa, and meditations on the infernally unpredictable Bay Area weather, this independent zine project seeks to develop an artistic, political, and social map of America's most indefinable city. Contributors Joe Donohoe, b. Armstrong, and Raina Bird help celebrate the third issue at tonight's reading.
