Drawing from a range of musical traditions and experiences, Balabhakti (bah-la-bahk-tee) comes together to lead the call to the divine in the joyful meditation of devotional yoga known as Kirtan (chanting). Kirtan helps us create a bridge to the hearts’ ecstasy through the exploration of a spectrum of volume and rhythm; at times we’ll immerse ourselves in an ancient, winding, quiet river, at times a boisterous, crackling, sacred fire comes forth, that leaves us no choice but to dance, uninhibited, within.
Members of Balabhakti have been leading Kirtan for well over 35 years, and the power of the ancient chants has touched each member.
No previous experience, spiritual affiliation, vocal or musical technique is necessary to embark on this journey to your own perfect heart of devotion.
Balabhakti are: Brian Dempsey (keyboard, guitar), Heather Lawrence (vocals), Doug Crawford (percussion), and Jiselle Crawford (vocals).
