Eclipse is an open source community whose projects are focused on building an open development platform comprised of extensible frameworks, tools and runtimes for building, deploying and managing software across the lifecycle.
EclipseCon is the premier technical and user conference focusing on the power of the Eclipse platform. From implementers to users, and everyone in between, if you are using, building, or considering Eclipse, EclipseCon is the one conference you need to attend. The conference brings members of the Eclipse community together to explore, share and learn new techniques, ideas and technologies, as well as to provide information about the latest developments and future plans of the Eclipse projects.
EclipseCon 2008 has more than 350 tutorials and talks covering all aspects of Eclipse technology and commercial interests. There are dozens of talks on dozens of topics ranging from mobile computing to embedded devices and Java to C/C++. Eclipse as a Platform is popular, as is reporting and rich client issues.
The keynote speakers for EclipseCon 2008 will feature well known industry speakers including Cory Doctorow, science fiction author and open source advocate; Dan Lyons, also known as the Fake Steve Jobs; and Sam Ramji, Director at Microsoft Open Source Labs.
There's a special category of talks on business issues and other one tailored for open source contributors. We're hosting the OSGi DevCon as well, so there's both depth and breadth.
All pre-conference tutorials are no-extra-charge this year, so plan to take advantage of our fully stocked tutorial program, attend the exhibit floor, and partake of the community and conversation late into the night.
