Eastern Meets Western At Summer Show During Ani Afshar Studio Boutique May 29, 2009

Famed jeweler and weaver Ani Afshar, who debuted her new Logan Square studio boutique, has announced the summer dates for presenting her one-of-a-kind multicultural beaded creations and weavings to women in search of her luminous, feminine designs. The Ani Afshar Studio Boutique, located at 3224 West Altgeld in Chicago, will be open on Friday, May 29 through Sunday, May 31, 2009, from noon to 6 p.m. Among the featured jewelry will be Afshar’s summer ’09 collection and her selection of weavings that range from small picture frame creations to larger wall hanging and bedspreads.

“After introducing the studio boutique in early May, many customers commented on how comfortable the space is and showed great interest in my weavings,” said Ani Afshar. “I’ll be opening the boutique at least one weekend a month to bring both my jewelry and weavings as well as the works of other artisans.” A schedule of art shows at the Ani Afshar Studio Boutique can be obtained by visiting www.aniafshar.com, emailing to aniafshar.net or calling 773.645.8922.

The summer schedule for presentations of jewelry and weavings by Ani Afshar includes showings in her studio boutique on Friday, June 26 through Sunday, June 28, 2009; Friday, July 24 through Sunday, July 26, 2009; and Friday, August 28 through Sunday, August 30, 2009. Free parking is available in the lot just west of the studio boutique entryway.

Born in Istanbul, Afshar was educated in Gstaad, Switzerland from an early age and would later live in Geneva and Tehran. The confluence of two respective Eastern and Western artistic traditions formed the foundation of her background, and it’s reflected in her weaving and jewelry creations.
