Local Dogs Treated to Egg Hunt

Barbecue, cheese and peanut butter may not be your Easter favorites, but for local dogs they're top of the line. This Saturday, from 1 to 3pm, Murphy Dog Park will be transformed into a hunting ground. And the treats won't "eggs"actly be hard to find. "BigWag donated over 700 eggs filled with nearly 15 pounds of treats," said Erin Hague, store manager of BigWag Gourmet Dog Bakery in Rogers. And area merchants provided prizes for 300 additional eggs, according to Laurel Matula, the event's organizer.

The event, which returns to Murphy Dog Park for it's second year, benefits the dog park, Rogers Humane Society and many other local rescue groups. And the egg hunt isn't the only attraction. Also included are an Easter bonnet contest, a silent "barktion" and raffle drawings. There will even be a Kibble 'n Bits cake and Pup-peroni punch for the dogs, in celebration of the event's sponsors.

Local dogs are welcome to register through the day of the event. Registrations can be returned to either BigWag Gourmet Dog Bakery or to Rogers Humane Society. Cost of registration is $15 per dog. The first 100 registrants receive a canvas goody bag. Just watching the hilarity bound to ensue is free.
