An early innovator in sustainability at the college level, PCC Rock Creek composts most pre-consumer foods on campus (many of which are grown in its own organic learning garden). The campus also uses compostable silverware and flatware made of corn products and plans are in place to begin composting post-consumer foods, plates and utensils by Earth Day.
The campus also boasts two straw bale houses, an earthen oven, and one building whose water is heated entirely by solar.
