The City of Bellflower will host its 7th Annual Earth Day Celebration on Saturday, April 18th from 9 am to 1 pm at Simms Park, 16614 S. Clark Avenue. The event is Free and open to all. CR&R will conduct a Free mulch give-away beginning at 7am for all Bellflower residents(coupon and proof of residency required). An Electronic Waste collection event will also be occurring all day from 9am until 1pm. Starting at 9 am, environmental exhibitors will be on hand to provide fun kid activities, information and handouts about recycling, household hazardous waste, used oil recycling, water and energy conservation and more. The exhibitors will provide free promotional materials, display exhibits, perform demonstrations and conduct free give-aways, including used oil recycling kits and tree seedlings. Several vehicles will be on display including a new Honda Hybrid vehicle, a Natural Gas powered pickup truck and an alternate fuel trash truck.
The County of Los Angeles’ Smart Gardening Program will be holding a workshop from 9:30am until 11am. The workshop is FREE and will cover subjects including composting, worm composting, grasscycling, and water-wise and fire-wise gardening.
