Earth Day Celebration April 21, 2012

Discover fun, family-friendly ways to live a green lifestyle at the Maryland Science Center’s annual Earth Day celebration, Saturday April 21, from noon until 4 p.m. Eco experts from the area’s greenest groups will show visitors how they can help conserve our planet’s resources.

Get the inside dirt on cultivation, and take home vegetable seeds and saplings from the Maryland Master Gardeners and Ruppert Landscape.

Conduct chemistry with the Maryland Section of the American Chemical Society

Identify outdoor edibles and taste scrumptious samples at Herb Cooking demonstrations by the Carrie Murray Nature Center.

Follow the lifecycle of a plastic grocery bag and decorate your own reusable tote with the Irvine Nature Center

Create a take-home container garden made from shoes, juice boxes and food cans with advice from Baltimore Contained.

Make your own thunderdrum and rainstick to create a symphony of stormy springtime sounds (while supplies last).
Get an up close look at one of Maryland’s most valuable resources, the horseshoe crab, in a display by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
Learn what can be recycled and how our community recycles with the City of Baltimore Public Works department.
