Energy 21C is the major energy networks conference in the Southern Hemisphere, with a particular focus on energy transmission and distribution in Australia, New Zealand and the South East Asian region.
The origins of Energy 21C are in the former Distribution 2000 series of conferences.
Held every two years, Energy 21 C is "owned" by industry associations in the Australian Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers Association (AEEMA) and the Energy Networks Association.
AEEMA is the leading industry body representing Australia's information and communication technology, electronics and electrical manufacturing industries. AEEMA members supply infrastructure, products and manufacturing-related services to Australian and world markets.
AEEMA's mission is to enable the information and communication technology, electronics and electrical manufacturing industries to prosper by facilitating cohesive membership representation and a favourable operating environment.
The Energy Networks Association is the peak national body representing natural gas and electricity distribution businesses throughout Australia.
Energy network businesses deliver electricity and gas to over 12 million customer connections across the nation through 800,000 km of electricity lines and 75,000 km of gas distribution pipelines.
Partner organisations in Energy 21C are Standards Australia and Engineers Australia through the Electric Energy Society of Australia. The conference hosts at Energy 21C in Sydney will be Energy Australia and Integral Energy.
At the last Energy 21C conference in Brisbane, there were more than 1,600 delegates from 25 countries. The event featured an enormous exhibition space with 156 spaces sold to 48 companies.
Sydney is expected to be even bigger!
While the history of Energy 21 C has been technical in nature with a series of workshops, demonstrations and site visits, there will also be a focus on policy matters at the 2007 conference in Sydney.
The event will provide a blueprint for our future, and it represents a unique opportunity for people in the energy transmission and distribution sector to come together to address the latest developments in an industry that affects every person.
