Dothan, Ala. - The 7th Annual Heritage Trail Tour, presented by the ladies of E.L.E.T.E. (Enlightened Ladies Empowering Through Education) Professionals will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2011.
The purpose of the Heritage Trail is to recognize the achievements and culture of African Americans in the local community. The Heritage Trail will provide an all inclusive setting in which citizens of every ethnic background and culture can experience and celebrate the contributions of African Americans. The event will also provide all attendees with an opportunity to increase their awareness of African culture and history.
The Trail Tour, which is a one and a half mile driving trail through two of Dothan’s historically African American neighborhoods (Bama-Dale Subdivision, circa 1950 and Rocky Branch Subdivision, circa 1970), will be held on Sunday, April 10,2011. This is a great opportunity for the community to drive through the neighborhoods and view young ladies dressed in traditional African attire adorning the residents’ lawns with beautiful spring flowers in full bloom. The Opening Ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. The Trail Tour begins at 2 pm on East Bunche St. off of Highway 431 North. This event is free to the public.
