When do we call a country a developing country? Does the third world exist? Why is India considered to be a developing country while it is one of the leading countries in ICT development? We all know that it has something to do with poverty. But how can we measure poverty and how can it be reduced? Professor Eddy Szirmai of the Eindhoven University of Technology will discuss the basics of poverty and the dynamics of socioeconomic development in a two-hour introductory lecture. The lecture provides a guide for engineering students for learning more about development and development theory. This is very useful knowledge for working in developing countries.
Prof. Dr. Adam Szirmai (Eddy) is professor of technology and development studies at the Eindhoven University of Technology and research fellow of the Eindhoven Centre for Innovation Studies (ECIS). He recently published a textbook ?The Dynamics of Socio-economic development?.
