Although he has been “a grown up” for several years, New England-born singer/songwriter, Dylan Pollard, has colorfully-coined and embraced the music genre now known as “Cry-Baby Rock”.
Dylan blends acoustic rock songs with a borderline comedy show, which has led to several noteworthy shows from Miami to New York City to Boston.
Dylan’s sometimes self-depreciating humor allows his audiences to become engaged and comfortable, in the midst of powerful rock songs. His songs are frequently about - how should we say this – failed relationships that most artists would'nt’t dare touch - let alone sing about in public! But take them on he does. And in doing so, Dylan captures the attention of audiences with banter and wit. He then holds their attention with heartbreaking songs – songs whose melodies and lyrics leave no doubt to the listener that Dylan has first-hand knowledge of the content.
Playing solo for the most part and sharing the stage with only a 12-string guitar, Dylan describes one of his songs as a “Song about Lindsay Lohan’s rehab stays”. Another song he calls “A song written for the show Baywatch that never made it on the show”. Dylan then goes on to sing the heartfelt lyrics “Tonight, I’ll burn down the house next door, just to
give you light and keep you warm.” If that’s not love, we don’t know what is.
We can only hope Dylan continues his outrageous stage antics for larger audiences, so that everyone who hears his music can feel what it is like to laugh hysterically one minute, and then feel their old love scars ripped open just seconds later.
With his captivating stage presence, experiencing a Dylan Pollard performance is sure to linger with whoever experiences it.
