Lt. Gov. Jari Askins Joins Oklahoma
Democratic Veterans in DVDs4Vets Drive
The Oklahoma Democratic Party Veterans Committee is sponsoring a project to collect new and used movie DVDs and portable DVD players to send to VA hospitals and disabled veterans who are unable to obtain some of the basic entertainment most civilians take for granted.

A party to package and mail the DVDs and portable players will be held at the Oklahoma Democratic Party Headquarters, 4100 N. Lincoln Blvd., in Oklahoma City on Saturday, August 22, 2009 starting at 11:00 a.m.

Speakers will include Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor Jari Askins, State Senator Kenneth Corn and Dr. Katherine Scheirman, USAF Col (Ret) who will be discussing current veterans' issues. Askins is running for the office of Governor and Corn is running for Lieutenant Governor of the state of Oklahoma in 2010.

From now until August 22, the Oklahoma Democratic Party Veterans Committee will be collecting DVDs and portable DVD players throughout Oklahoma with a goal to collect 1000 DVDs. “It is a great way to help those who have served our country and to recycle at the same time." stated Katherine Scheirman, ODPVC Treasurer.

New and used DVDs and portable DVD players may be dropped off at the Tulsa County Democratic Headquarters at 3930 E. 31st Street in Tulsa and the Oklahoma Democratic Party Headquarters at 4100 N. Lincoln in Oklahoma City. Additional collection points will be added as soon as possible.
