DVA Productions Inc Presents: Simply Etta October 5, 2012

This show, Simply Etta, is our tribute to iconic singer Etta James. It features the outstanding actress Sheran Goodspeed Keyton as Etta James and long time music collaborator Joe Rogers on piano. The stories you will hear are the words of Etta James, taken directly from her autobiography, the liner notes of her albums, and online transcripts from interviews. By using Etta James’ own words and songs, Sheran creates a vivid portrait of one of the most amazing singers in modern music.
The iconic Etta James crosses all musical genres: blues, jazz, rock, r&b, even gospel. Early in 2010, tragic stories began circulating about Miss James’ health: that she suffered from dementia or Alzheimer’s and had canceled all public appearances. This show begins during that time in the midst of her blurred state of mind, and flashes back to moments of the sheer brilliance that only a talent of such magnitude could bring!
The show will take place at Fort Worth Community Arts Center, 1300 Gendy Street, Fort Worth, TX 76107. Performances are Friday through Sunday. October 5, 6, 12, and 13, 2012 at 8pm.
