\In the 1950s, the wrist action of professional yo-yoists would dazzle children and adults alike as they marveled at “walk the dog,” “sleeping,” string spider web designs and technically challenging freehand whirls and backspins. For the first time in decades, a group of professional yo-yoists are travelling the country to celebrate the 80th birthday of Duncan Yo-Yo, and a Duncan representative will be performing at the Meijer store in Bolingbrook, located at 755 E. Boughton Road Somer Gum, on Wednesday, September 9, 2009, from 4 to 6 p.m.
During their two-hour visit, the Duncan professional will demonstrate skill with an advanced freestyle performance, share “tricks of the trade,” teach novices how to work a yo-yo, discuss the different types of yo-yos available in the market and answer questions. This event is free and open to the public. As one of the most affordable toys on the market, the popularity of the yo-yo is again on the rise.
