Detroit-based Duende picks up where west coast psychedelia trailed off, answering the British reflections on American roots music and infusing it with the attitude of White Panthers-era punk and soul. SikSik Nation portrays a blue-collar solemnity mixed with a Brit-pop sensibility and heavy feedback. Many of their songs are socially conscious but avoid coming across as preachy. Beer-fueled rock’n’roll? I think we know how to deal with that. Speedy Greasy opens, providing Old Milwaukee-inspired noise.
